Egyptian Islamic group urges operations against U.S forces in the Suez Canal
Refaee Ahmed Taha, the leader in the Egyptian Islamic group, urged yesterday on launching attacks on U.S interests in the area.
A statement said that our officers, soldiers and our people's sons in Egypt have to learn the lesson of the U.S destroyer in Eden and where "the Suez Canal is crossed by tens of U.S and Jewish ships," saying that "they (the Americans and the Jews) must realize that we have no other way but besieging their embassies and their military and the civil headquarters in our country which are too many," adding " let us burn the embassies, the headquarters and destroy the ships, the destroyers and kill individuals."
Refaee represents a radical faction in the Egyptian group 'Gamaa' yet the leadership of this group stopped its operations in 1998.
