Government emergency measures to fight white-fly
The government has taken emergency measures to face the white-fly threat endangering harvests, tomatoes chiefly, this year, said minister of agriculture, rural development, water and forests Ismail Alaoui.
In question time, Alaoui said his department decreed the ban of infected breed imports and destruction of virus infected cultures. Campaigns to sensitize and urge for protection means in hit areas are also
being considered, he said adding research works are conducted by the National Agriculture Research Institute, in collaboration with USAID and Mediterranean research institutes to come up with other tomato breeds likely to resist the virus.
