Morocco- EU technical talks on fishery open oct. 30 in brussels
Technical talks between Morocco and the European Union on fisheries will open on October 30 in Brussels, announced in Casablanca Monday the European agriculture and fishery commissioner Franz Fischler, after a meeting with Prime Minister Abderrahmane youssoufi.
Winding up a short visit to the kingdom during which he conferred with King Mohammed VI, Fischler told the media there were several cooperation opportunities which will be exhaustively explored in coming talks in Brussels.
Morocco will be detailing out its stand at the technical level to the European side which can not ask for more than the real fishing possibilities and has to take into account the social dimension of the sector in Morocco, he pointed out.
Fischler said European interests also ought to be considered before he sketched out cooperation objectives. The EU will save no effort to preserve Moroccan fish resources, help the kingdom carry out its five-year development plan and probe ways to participate to fishing activities in Moroccan waters, he concluded.
Youssoufi had also told reporters that the two sides agreed to meet again in Brussels to carry on talks on fisheries and that Morocco will expound its viewpoints on the EU's global offer.
The Prime Minister said Fischler voiced EU readiness to contribute to the taking-off of the kingdom's fisheries sector.
