Edward Saeed: violence is a result of Oslo agreement

Originally published

The Palestinian writer Edward Saeed said that the explosion of violence in the Palestinian territories is a result of the Oslo agreement signed in September 1993, which reflects the imbalance between the force of the Palestinians and that of the Israelis.

In a statement to the press on the side line of a literary festival held in Sheltonham, west London, where the Egyptian literary figure Najib Mahfouz who won the Nobel Prize for literature was honored, Saeed added " Oslo agreement would have led to that because it is unfair and reflects imbalance between the force of the Palestinians and that of the Israelis." He added: " I am not at all surprised and I have been saying that since 1993. And the result is that what you see now."

Saeed who was talking after he introduced his biography " Put of place" and " the end of the peace " a collection of articles, added that the recent acts of violence in the Palestinian territories indicate that a nearby agreement is not expected.
