Qaddafi held talks with King Fahd, crown prince Abdullah
In the fourth station of his Arab tour which covered Egypt, Jordan, and Syria, the Libyan President Muammar al-Qaddafi held on Wednesday talks with King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud and the Crown Prince Abdullah. The talks centered on the current tension in the Middle East, especially the continued aggressions made by the Israeli army against the Palestinian people and the question of the Arab summit due to be held by the end of October.
The Saudi news agency said that several Saudi officials including King Fahd and prince Abdullah welcomed al-Qaddafi upon his arrival at al-Yamamah palace in al-Riyadh coming from Hafer al-Batin in the north of the kingdom where he spent his night after a land trip from Damascus in which he passed 2100 kilometers. The Saudi news agency added that talks between al-Qaddafi and the Saudi officials centered on the tense situation in the region, especially the Arab summit conference which is due to be held in Cairo on October 21 and 22. This was discussed despite the fact that al-Qaddafi said in Damascus on Tuesday that the summit " will not achieve any thing because the Arab states are unable to move in the face of Israel."
For its part, the Libyan News agency explained that al-Qaddafi continued his trip in the Arab states " with the aim to urge the Arab brethren to join the African federation and establish an Arab- African union that guarantees for both Arabs and Africans their due position in the age of globalization.
Sources accompanied al-Qaddafi in his trip said that he stopped in his way from Hafer al-Batin to al-Riyadh in a farm owned by a Saudi and had dinner and rested for a while there.
Upon his arrival in al-Riyadh the secretary of the people's committee for African unity affairs Abdul Salaam al-Tureki said that the visit of the Libyan leader to Saudi Arabia which is the same since 20 years aims at " meeting with leaders of the Kingdom and discuss with them issues of concern to the Arab world."
