Moroccan domestic calls go nine digit as of Oct. 13
The new nine digit telephone number system will be enforced as of Oct 13 at 23H00 GMT, says a press-release of the National Agency of Telecommunication regulations (ANRT).
All telephone numbers, whether standard or cellular, will be made up of nine digits both for local and national calls. International calls will not be affected while incoming calls from abroad will drop the 0 which used to follow the 212 country code.
For all calls within Morocco, the 0 preceding the city code is replaced by one of the four two-digit regional codes adopted.
New regional codes come as follows: Casablanca Settat 02, Rabat-Tangier 03, Marrakesh-Laayoun 04 and Fez-Oujda 05.
