Israel asks IAEA to reject Arab resolution draft on its nuclear capacities
Israel has asked the International Atomic Energy Agency to reject a draft resolution tabled by the Arab states on its nuclear capacities and threats.
Head of Israel's atomic energy commission threatened that in case the resolution is adopted it would be impossible for his country to adhere by consensus to any resolution over verification norms in the Middle East.
Fourteen Arab member states and two observer states, Oman and Palestine, presented the draft resolution.
Israel, which has not signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty, has never recognized possessing nuclear weapons and refused to let the Agency inspect its nuclear equipment. Foreign experts say the Jewish state possesses 100 to 200 nuclear heads that can be launched by ballistic missiles.
