Originally published

In a meeting held on Tuesday, the Syrian cabinet approved a decision to fight unemployment whose rate is estimated by economists as reaching its highest at the meantime.

SANA said that the decision which was approved by the Syrian Cabinet in the meeting chaired by Prime minister Muhammad Mustafa Miro aims at "ensuring new job opportunities to citizens through proposing the establishment of several economic, production, services and rural development projects which would help in ensuring work opportunities that comply with the increase in economic activity rate on the one hand and the annual growth of population, on the other hand."

Economic sources in Damascus said that the sum allotted for the program set for this purpose is estimated at 50 billion Syrian pounds to be implemented within a period of 5 years through which some 50,000 job opportunities will be ensured in the first year while this rate of employment will be annually increased in the later coming four years.

The program" also works for ensuring sustainable work opportunities and smooth loans for the unemployed and expansion of women's participation in this process."
