Miro addresses Arab Economic Council
Syria's Prime Mister Mohammed Mustafa Miro said Wednesday Arabs have compulsory options that they could not do without or avoid. Arabs " cannot stay alone in a world ruled by cartels. They cannot protect their economies.. From its (forced options) effects," Miro told the 66 session of the Arab League Social and Economic Council.
He urged Arabs to exert all efforts to get free from long standing problems to confront globalism economically, scientifically, technologically in joint action that give them potentials to quickly adapt with the new developments.
Miro, addressing the meeting, confirmed that the arena for Arab joint action was very wide. " We have only to quickly move and launch brave initiative on all levels to execute signed agreements on Arab cooperation and develop the legal, administrative, economic, trade, cultural and scientific framework," he said.
He also urged Arabs to allow freedom of capital movements among Arab states, boosting inter-Arab trade and setting up joint ventures and 'the Greater Arab Region for Free Trade'.
He also called for bringing the Arab common market into reality. He gave Europe's moves as an example. "Arab common market, if could be set up, would be an important market not less than other world markets. It would have the characteristics of the efficient negotiator," Miro said.
Miro confirmed that setting up Arab economic bloc would protect Arabs from many international passive decisions. " Syria is exerting efforts to achieve economic, administrative, legal reforms.. These reforms include opening the way for private sector investments and open the doors wide for Arab and foreign capitals," he said.
Miro confirmed that Syria was in its way to develop its banks through modifying their laws, systems and regulations to help creating the suitable atmosphere for investment, SANA reported.
