Differences in choosing a new secretary general for oil organization

Originally published

OAPEC will convene a ministerial meeting in Vienna in November the 12th to choose a secretary general for the organization to succeed Nigerian Rilwano Lokman who has been assuming the power since 1994.

Three persons are competing for this post and they are Abd El-Amir El-Anbari from Iraq, Hussein Kazembour Ardibili from Iran and Soleiman El-Kherbesh from Saudi Arabia.

OAPEC's summit, which will be hosted by Caracas (capital of Venezuela) by the end of the current month, will look into an approach to recommend one of three nominees.

None of the Arab candidates refuse to give up the post to the other and each one of them accuses the other of working against the good of the organization.

The regular ministerial meeting of the organization will be held in Vienna in coming March the 16th.

Iranian sources confirmed to Arabic News that Iran sticks to its condition to agree on the Saudi candidate Soleiman El-Kherbesh and that the Iranian Hussein Kazembour candidate assume the post after the end of the Saudi candidate's period and that everybody agrees on this succession while Iraq sticks to her candidate.
