Morocco Prepares for Moroccan-Japanese Economic Encounter
The Moroccan chamber of advisors (upper parliamentary chamber) is projecting to hold a Moroccan-Japanese economic colloquy with the participation of 60 Japanese firms.
The announcement was made on Thursday by the chamber speaker, Mohamed Jalal Essaid, at a meeting with visiting vice-speaker of the Japanese chamber of advisors, Hisamitsu Sugano. He explained that the aim of the encounter is to establish economic partnership between Moroccan and Japanese firms and promote cooperation between the two countries.
The Japanese delegation promised to contribute to the success of the meeting by encouraging "JITRO," a Japanese institution in charge of international cooperation, to open a branch in Morocco.
The Moroccan official hoped that Japan will be playing a new political role at the international scene, matching its political and economic weight, in favor of the UN settlement plan for the holding of a referendum in the Moroccan Sahara.
The Japanese party also met with speaker of the house of representatives( lower house), Abdelouahed Radi, who underlined the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in consolidating bilateral relations. Radi also hailed Japan's support to Morocco in the field of sea fishery.
