King Fahd confers with al-Bashir

King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia on Sunday met with the Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir who arrived in Jeddah in a short visit. The two officials discussed " relations between the two sisterly countries" and reviewed " the situation on the Arab, Islamic and international arenas."

Today, Monday, the Sudanese President will head for new York to take part in the Millennium summit organized by the UN at the UN premises on September 6 and 8.

Earlier in February, al-Bashir held an official visit to Saudi Arabia which was his first visit since 1991. Relations between al-Riyadh and al-Khartoum were deteriorated following the invasion of the Iraqi forces to Kuwait in 1990 as the Sudanese government then took a decision which was considered in support for Baghdad.
