New demands for the parties of the Syrian National Progressive Front
The London- based al-Hayat daily said in its Tuesday's issue quoting well-informed sources in Damascus that one of the parties of the National Progressive Front has officially called for releasing two laws for the "political parties and the press" in the framework of efforts made to revitalize political work in the country.
The sources indicated that President Bashar al-Assad will in the few coming days preside over a meeting for the leaders of the political parties to resume discussions on reactivating the work of the Front.
The sources added that chairperson of the Syrian communist Party Wesal Farha had sent a memorandum to the Syrian Vice President Muhammad Zuheir Masharqa, who is also the deputy chairman of the National Progressive Front in which she demanded her party's request to release the press law and to give all parties of the national progressive front the right to issue their own press and display their publications.
