An assassination attempt against a Yemeni journalist
A Yemeni journalist has stressed he was on Monday exposed to an assassination attempt by a group of gunmen in the downtown of Sanaa.
Yahya al-Sadmi, the correspondent of the Kuwaiti daily al-Seyasah, and the editor in the Yemeni weekly ( September 26) said that " six unidentified gunmen in a civilian uniform riding uncovered Jib car intercepted him while in a taxi in the downtown of Sanaa."
He added that the gunmen forces the taxi driver to stop and then approached him and directed their guns to his chest and head.
The Yemeni journalist said the gunmen escaped after people crowded in great number around.
He said he submitted an official claim on the incident to the military intelligence department, the ministry of the Interior and to the Journalists Union.
Al-Sadmi expressed his conviction that the attack and the assassination attempt against him is because of his press writing in local papers in which he criticized judicial laws issued recently against press and journalists.
However, one of Sanaa's courts on August 6 prevented one journalist from writing for 10 months under the accusation of criticizing a minister and accusing him of corruption.
