Arab League proposal to lift sanctions imposed on Sudan

It was decided to list a special item on lifting economic sanctions from Sudan definitely at the agenda of the 114th session of the Arab League AL council at the level of the Arab foreign ministers.

This was expressed by the AL assistant secretary general for inter-Arab affairs Ahmad bin Hali who is also in charge of the Sudanese file. He said he had received on Tuesday the draft project on this item proposed by the Sudanese government during his meeting with Sudan's permanent representative at the AL Ahmad Abdul Halim.

Bin Hali explained that the draft project aims at getting full Arab backing to Sudan and the call to urge the UN Security Council to lift the US economic sanctions imposed on Sudan, when this case will be discussed at the agenda of the UN Security Council in the mid of November.
