Mashaal condemns Camp David meeting

Originally published

The chairman of the political bureau of the Palestinian national resistance movement Hamas, Khaled Mashaal has stated that the Camp David meeting has no grounds for committing to the legitimate Palestinian rights and therefore "we condemn this meeting and refuse any results made out of it."

In a statement to the Monte Carlo radio on Wednesday Mashaal called on the Palestinian government to withdraw from Camp David negotiations and to stop gambling the rights of the Palestinian people.

He stressed that the cause of the Palestinian people cannot be solved in minutes or months as many expect. He stressed the rejection of the Palestinian people to liquidation causes sought by certain sides against the cause of Palestine and the legitimate rights of the Palestinians.

Meantime, one of the Hamas leaders Abdul Aziz al- Ranteisi announced his movement's rejection to the results to be concluded by the current Camp David meetings between the Palestinian government and the Israeli government under the auspices of the US President Bill Clinton. He reiterated the movement's clinging to resisting the occupation until the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people are recognized.

In a statement issued by the Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am on Wednesday, al-Ranteisi expected that Camp David meetings will result in giving more concessions from the Palestinian side.
