Al-Assad receives congratulation from Clinton, Albright

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Tuesday received a cable of congratulations on the occasion of his inauguration and taking the constitutional oath as President of the Syrian Arab Republic from US President Bill Clinton.

President Clinton expressed the best wishes of the American people to President Bashar al-Assad so as to carry out responsibility of leading Syria. The US President expressed his commitment to spare no efforts towards achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the ME region.

President Bashar al-Assad also received a cable on this occasion from the US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

Albright added she hoped to continue work with President al-Assad in due time in order to achieve a comprehensive peace. She wished the President successes in performing his numerous tasks, SANA reported.
