Emir of Qatar visits Iran

Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khaleifa al-Thani will hold talks with the Iranian President Muhammad Khatami on bilateral relations between Qatar and Iran and expanding prospects of cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

The ruler of Qatar, who will today visit Iran, will discuss with the Iranian President regional and international issues of mutual concern.

He will sign several agreements and protocols on bilateral cultural, media and health cooperation.

Qatari sources said that "there is a Qatari trend to develop relations with Iran especially in view of the moderate policy of the Iranian president and that they will discuss the arrangements for convening a summit of Islamic conference organization that will be held in Qatar especially that Iran is the current head of the organization."
