Jerusalem is the most important issue in Camp David's negotiations
The Palestinians and the Israelis consider Jerusalem as integral part of their identity as the Palestinians want eastern Jerusalem as capital of their anticipated country while Israel insists on Jerusalem, with both of its sides, as its eternal capital and the Israeli prime minister assured before leaving to Camp David that he will present any concessions concerning Jerusalem.
An Israeli official said that Israel put forth what it sees as a compromise for Jerusalem's case as it suggests self - rule in the Palestinian areas of the city and exchanging the land around the holly city as well as merging the Jewish settlements Maalia Adomim and Gaebat Zaeef in the west bank, and in return, it joins some Palestinian districts in Jerusalem to the Palestinian country.
Khalel Tofakgi, head of the maps and survey operations in Beit al-Sharq in Jerusalem rejected this and said that all the U.N resolutions say that the settlements are illegal and that Israel joins territories in the occupied land for its own good.
