Originally published

Lebanese President Emil Lahoud has denounced the decision of the Israeli military court to extend the detention of Sheikh Abdul Karim Obeid and the Lebanese militant Mustafa al-Deirani.

During his meeting on Thursday in Beirut with the family of the Lebanese martyrs Bayar Abu Jawdeh and the freed prisoner from the Israeli jails Ghassan Saeed, the Lebanese President said that Israel's decision means continuing its decisions against Lebanon.

The Lebanese President stressed that the sacrifices offered by all resisting Lebanese youths from all parts of Lebanon had forces the Israeli aggression to withdraw from the Lebanese territories and embodied Lebanese national unity.

The Lebanese President also stressed the need of investing all potentials for the sake of liberating Sheikh Obeid and al-Deirani together with all Lebanese hostages held in the Israeli jails.

On the other hand, Lebanese reaction has continued on the decision taken by the Israeli court to extend the detention of Sheikh Abdul Karim Obeid and Mustafa al-Deirani for more three months under the pretext that they constitute a danger against Lebanon.

The Lebanese Prime Minister Salim al-Hoss said that the Lebanese government follows up the question of the Lebanese prisoners and detainees in the Israeli jails with the UN. He added that this issue of the Lebanese prisoners in the Israeli jails has been debated during the meeting with the UN delegate Terry Larsen.

Worthy mentioning that the Israeli occupation forces kidnapped Obeid in 1989 and al-Deirani in 1994 and jailed them in its prisons inside Israel.

Israel, however, is still holding in addition to the two said prisoners other 14 Lebanese prisoners since several years.
