Criticism to British government over backing the building of Turkish dam

Originally published

Members of the British house of commons on Wednesday strongly criticized plans by the British government to give financial support to building the Turkish dam " Eleiso" on the Tigris river. The British house of commons members expressed their concern over the possible results for building such a controversial dam.

The International development committee of the British House of Commons said that members of the British parliament consider that giving 1.25 billion Sterling pound to erect Eleiso dam in Turkey will lead to an environmental catastrophe in displacing thousands of citizens from their villages and dumping several archaeological monuments in the area of Southern east Turkey as well as the grave damages of such a dam on the neighboring countries.

On the other hand a spokesman for the British opposition conservative party described the government's plan as an evidence of lack of consideration by the British foreign policy to any morale criterion.
