Originally published

The Jordanian special security forces have foiled an attempt to high-jack the royal Jordanian plane which was heading on Wednesday evening to Damascus after ten minutes from its departure from Queen Alya international airport, as the kidnapper headed to the plane cabin trying to enter it, carrying in his hand a bomb and a pistol.

A Jordanian official source said that the plane's security officer stopped the man, and then the Kidnapper threw the bomb among the passengers, and the Plane's guards opened fire on him and he was killed immediately.

The statement said that the pilot of the plane returned it back safely to Queen Alia airport. As a result of this incident some 15 persons were wounded and surgery was done on two of those wounded and they are now in a stable condition. The wounded were admitted to the two hospitals of al-Bashir and al-Hussein city to receive medical treatment. Most of them left the hospital on Thursday morning.

The statement said that investigations still continue to make sure of the identity of the kidnapper, his motives and whether he was helped by any one in this high-jacking.

The Jordanian King visited the wounded at the hospitals and made sure on their good health conditions.

Meantime, the Jordanian minister of information Taleb al-Refaí said that what took place at Amman's airport on the board of the Jordanian plane in its Wednesday's flight was a mere individual operation and had no political nor organizational motives behind it.

In press statements al- Refaí denied that the kidnapper Mahmoud Rizq Deib, a Syrian from Tartous, to be a member of any political party or have any supporter and that all available information prove that what he had done was a mere individual act of a man who want to go to Europe.

The Jordanian minister said the high-jacking of the plane aimed at converting its flight track to Germany to where he wanted to obtain a visa in several attempts and failed to this end.
