Modernizing and effecting comprehensive advancement constitute Egypt's national project for the future, said President Hosni Mubarak.

The European partnership agreement is not an end in itself but rather one of the means to modernize the Egyptian society and turn it into an advanced community, Minister of Information Safwat el-Sherif said, quoting president Hosni Mubarak as saying in a two-hour plenary session, held early Thursday to discuss the Euro-Egyptian partnership.

The agreement and other like international ones such as the World Trade Organization (WTO) are mere tools to modernize and organize Egypt's potentials to get incorporated into the world trend, President Mubarak added.

President Mubarak waded through documents of the modernizing programs in the fields of agriculture and industry, finance and banking and all other service sectors, said Sherif.

It is important to reshape the national work to modernize the state and build a modern country enjoying such capabilities to adequately address the international transformations and preserve a better life for the future generations, he added.

President Mubarak commissioned the government to design the necessary programs for the modernizing process and rehabilitation at the level of all sectors within three months, said Sherif.

Mubarak stressed the importance to take into account the social dimensions in the development and modernizing process and identify the mechanism that goes along with every sector.

He said the government will, on its own part, draw out the legislative mechanism that would enable the institutions, whether they were centers or companies to control the rhythm of upgrading and take the necessary decisions without the impediments of routine and bureaucracy.
