Palestine condemns Israeli attorney general's statements
The Palestinian government condemned Israel's attorney General for saying U.N. Security council resolution 242 did not apply on the Palestinian Territories.
Alyakim Rubinstein said resolution 242, which calls for the Israeli withdrawal from all lands it captured in the June 1967 war, does not apply on any Palestinian body.
He said the resolution did not mention the Palestinians by their name, except the refugees.
Nabil Abu Rdeineh, advisor to the Palestinian President said this was a dangerous escalation and a breach to the already-signed international agreements and to the principles of the peace process.
He said the road to peace goes through the implementation of resolution 242 that called for the Israeli withdrawal from all Palestinian lands, including Jerusalem.
The Israeli Radio said Senior Palestinian negotiator Saed Erekat gave his Israeli counterpart Obed Eran a letter protesting Rubinstein's remarks, which he described as "bizzare and extremely dangerous and threaten all foundations of the peace process."
