Morocco, the only Arab state selected for UNDP aid plan to development

Originally published

Morocco is the only Arab state picked up for a first pilot phase for the implementation of the UN aid-to-development framework plan (UNDAF- Morocco), said resident coordinator of UN systems in Morocco, Bouna Semou Diouf.

The UN official, who was presenting Thursday in Rabat the UNDAF-Morocco plan, praised the perfect symbiosis between the UN systems priorities contained in the UNDAF document and the Moroccan government's social policy.

This policy, he said, is focused on promotion of good governance, social integration, alleviation of poverty, promotion of women's status in society and enforcement of human rights.

He added that the UN system in Morocco has identified population, environment, rural development, food safety, health and education as priority areas of its action.

The UNDAF plan is meant to maximize cooperation between the UN system and the Moroccan government through a better coordination of development efforts and complementarity between the different aid programs.
