US Donation for Morocco's Juridical, Economic Reforms
The US Agency for International Development (USAID) extended Morocco a $ 4.4 million donation in support to a Moroccan plan to modernize justice.
The donation accord was initialed Tuesday in Rabat by Moroccan justice minister, Omar Azzimane, and economic growth director at USAID/Rabat, James Bednar.
The amount is part of a USAID program meant to promote national and foreign investments in Morocco, the US embassy in Rabat said in a release.
Another $ 800,000 was disbursed to finance judges and court staff training by the International Free Election Systems. The grant is also meant to consolidate the functioning of the Agadir commercial court through extending technical assistance, training and supplying computer programs necessary for enhancing the court's efficiency.
A part of the amount will go to the justice central administration to contribute to implementing its reform program.
The Moroccan justice minister lauded the conclusion of the donation accord as a new step in the cooperation ties between Morocco and the USA.
