Baghdad asks U.N to cancel no fly zones on north and south Iraq

Originally published

Iraq asked U.N secretary general Kofi Annan to work on canceling the so-called "no fly zones" in north and south Iraq, which have been imposed by U.S and U.K since 1991.

Spokesman of the Iraqi national council Saedoun Hamadi asserted that his country considered the no fly zones as being imposed on Iraq by force by Washington and London without UN resolutions and are thus a violation to U.N charter.

He added in a message he sent to Konfi Annan that the air strikes by the U.K and U.S on Baghdad led to a great destruction and large losses in souls.
