King Abdullah to visit Damascus, Gaza after returning from Washington
The Jordanian weekly al-Majd has quoted well-informed Jordanian political sources as saying that King Abdullah II of Jordan might, after returning back from Washington, pay two visits to each of Damascus and Gaza or might delegate a two high ranking officials to the two sides to explain results of his visit to the US and to transfer US proposals to each of President Hafez al- Assad and to Palestinian President Yasser Arafat over giving negotiations on the Syrian and Palestinian tracks a push forward.
The paper's sources added that King Abdullah will discuss with the US President means of reviving negotiations on the two tracks and the possibility of reaching peace agreements before the end of US President Bill Clinton's term of office.
These sources said that there is an American desire to revive the negotiations following Israel's withdrawal from South Lebanon and that Washington will give certain proposals to this effect to all sides concerned, expecting a real detente to take place on the two said tracks within the two coming months.
