Syria and Israel's withdrawal from South Lebanon
Syrian political analyst ( a lecturer at Damascus university, faculty of letters) Imad al-Shueibi said on Friday in an interview with the BBC that there are three reasons behind the Syrian silence regarding the Israeli withdrawal from South Lebanon: First is that Syria was behind of what was achieved in South Lebanon; the second is that Syria is now studying the conditions to find out what is going on and the third is that Syria considers Israel's withdrawal from South Lebanon as incomplete as far as withdrawal was not made from Shebaa farms.
Concerning the relations with Hizbullah, Shueibi said that Syria will be the supporter for the Hizbullah and " wisdom " states to take things easy and not to be taken by the trap implanted by Israel for Syria, Lebanon and the Lebanese resistance, noting that the Lebanese government will fill the vacuum after the Israeli withdrawal and then the UN forces.
