Bashar al-Assad to visit Lebanon

Originally published

The Kuwaiti daily al-Qabas said on Friday that Syrian Bashar al-Assad will visit Lebanon on top of a high ranking delegation in order to congratulate senior Lebanese officials over liberating South Lebanon from the Israeli occupation.

The paper quoted a senior Lebanese figure as expecting that Syria's President Hafez al-Assad would personally visit Lebanon to congratulate President Lahoud on this occasion.

The paper indicated that the visit of President al-Assad to Lebanon was raised earlier, noting that President al-Assad has always preferred to make such a visit following the liberation of South Lebanon and the western Bekaa from the Israeli occupation.
