Spanish King confers with Arafat

Spanish King Juan Carlos on Friday in Madrid met with the chairman of the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat to discuss recent developments in the Palestinian- Israeli negotiations.

The spokesman for the Spanish government media said it also scheduled that Arafat will also meet with the Spanish prime minister Jose Maria Aznar, and the two men will hold a joint press conference.

Diplomatic sources in Madrid said talks between Arafat and Aznar would in particular have dealt with peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, suspended since the recent confrontations in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, which resulted in killing five persons and 600 wounded in the Palestinian side.
