Chief of Hamas urges on fasting to express solidarity with Palestinian detainees
The founder of Palestinian Hamas movement Sheik Ahmed Yassin urged yesterday Arabs and Moslems to fast for a day to express solidarity with the Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons.
He urged Palestinians and all the Arab and Islamic countries to fast on coming Thursday as Palestinian officials say that more than 1000 prisoners are partially on a hunger strike consuming only liquid food.
The Israeli authorities say that there are 700 strikers in the prisons and the Palestinians demand the release of 1650 prisoners held during the recent violent protests in Gaza and the West Bank.
