Morocco, world largest snail producer and exporter

Morocco is the largest producer and exporter of snails in the world with global annual receipts estimated at about $ 3 million followed by Macedonia, Bulgaria, Hungry, Turkey and Tunisia, reported Moroccan weekly "Al Anbaa."

European countries come on the top of Moroccan snails importers as they absorb 40% of Moroccan exports.

Morocco has a large variety of snails, three of which being among the five most demanded species in the world, the weekly said, deploring the absence of a law on biological rest to preserve the gastropod species in the country.
