Morocco to have military college
King Mohammed VI, Supreme Chief and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, on Sunday announced the creation of the Royal College of Higher Military Studies.
The king made the announcement in an Order of the Day on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the Royal Armed Forces.
The college to open doors as of next October will materialize the firm will to promote the military capacities of the Moroccan servicemen through endowing them with scientific and technical means and know-how to help them follow the evolution of the field.
"The rapid changes sweeping across the world gave way to new forms of challenges, accompanied by a technical and technological evolution, making of modernity a major requirement, especially in the military field," the king said.
King Mohammed VI recalled the ceaseless efforts of the late King Hassan II --who co-founded with his father, Late King Mohammed V the FAR-- to hoist the FAR to the highest levels.
The king also hailed the spirit of bravery, loyalty and self-denial that the FAR have always shown in their noble actions in the service of the country in military, urban and social fields. He likewise lauded FAR's action in the defense of Morocco's sacred values, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The FAR's international reputation was also highlighted by the king, who paid tribute to the FAR for their action whenever they are solicited to intervene to defend the international law and contribute to the establishment of peace among nations and peoples.
King Mohammed VI stressed determination to perpetuate this tradition through dispatching other contingents in certain regions to serve these noble objectives in accordance with the will of the international community.
The king cited in this regard the action of the Moroccan contingent deployed in Kosovo, where Moroccan servicemen are contributing to alleviating the sufferings of Kosovars.
On Sunday, the King, who was accompanied by Prince Moulay Rachid, presided over a luncheon-banquet hosted on the occasion of the FAR 44th anniversary.
