New directors for establishments of the Syrian ministry of the economy

Several decisions were recently taken by the ministry of the economy and foreign trade in Syria on appointing new director generals for many of its public establishments.

Riyadh Malik was appointed as director general for the general establishment for the import and export of foodstuffs and chemicals.

Ghatfan al-Refa, as the director general for the free zones establishment; Mrs. Sahar Darbas as the director general for medicinal trade ( Sedaleyah ) general establishment and Imad al-Zou'bi as a director general for the Damascus International Fair establishment.

In this respect, and in the continued campaign to fight corruption in Syria, on Sunday the Syrian local daily al-Thawra reported that the Syrian ministry of Finance on Saturday released its decision no. 1737 provides for " reservation of transferred or not transferred sums of Ridwan Sello, the director general of the Arab medical company ( Thameco ) to pay back the establishment a sum of 12,242,631,00 Syrian pounds, to be paid back with due interest, also similar measures are to be taken against two other employees working at the company Mu'tasim Aslan to pay 7,411, 617,00 Syrian pounds, and Adel Qassam Jamal to pay a sum of 4,831,014,00, according to a notification from the central commission of the audition and inspection no. 18 /368/ 4/, dated 13.4.2000.
