International planned parenthood federation meets in Rabat
The governing board of the London-based International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is holding here this May 12-14 its annual meeting under the chairmanship of Princess Lalla Fatima Zohra.
Representatives of over 40 countries and the IPPF president, Angela Gaumez, are attending the meeting.
Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia are the Arab states taking part in this year's session of the IPPF governing board sponsored by the Moroccan family planning association.
In Morocco, official figures show a sharp decline in demographic growth-- which reached an annual 1.7%-- and the population aging. Persons aged above 60 will account in 2060 for 21% of the country's population, against 7% presently.
IPPF is a non-governmental organization mustering 180 associations from Africa, the Arab states, Europe, Oceania, America and Asia.
