Originally published

Morocco and Cameroon decided to consolidate bilateral cooperation in the fields of higher education and scientific research.

The decision was made during a meeting held in Rabat Wednesday between Cameroonian higher education minister, Atangana Mebara, who visited Morocco May 6-10, and Moroccan peer, Najib Zerouali.

The two sides agreed to set up a sectoral joint committee in charge of developing cooperation programs.

They also decided to carry out joint research projects, exchange information missions and hold training sessions for Cameroonian professors and executives in Morocco.

Morocco expressed readiness to examine the possibility of increasing the quota of scholarships granted to Cameroonian students.

The Cameroonian official also reviewed with Moroccan secretary of State for cooperation, Aicha Belarbi, cultural cooperation and education reforms undertaken by Morocco.

The two sides stressed the need to revise the cultural accord, concluded between the two countries in 1974, to adapt it to the new changes in the world of new technologies.
