Interior minister says legal action open to Sheikh Yassine

Originally published

Interior Minister Ahmed Al Midaoui said Wednesday Sheikh Abdeslam Yassine has the right to go court if he feels his rights are being abused.

Responding to esquires by MPS in the plenary question-time in the house of representatives, Midaoui said Sheikh Yassine "leaves and returns to his residence as he likes, receives people and holds meetings." The courts of the kingdom, where law and freedom rights reign supreme, are the only bodies entitled to deal with the case, he pointed out.

Yassine who leads the banned "Adl Wal Ihasan" Islamist association, has been in house-custody for years in Sale.
