Unknown people explode petroleum pipeline in eastern Sudan
The Sudanese authorities said yesterday that unknown people exploded on Monday the petroleum pipeline that is specified for exports in eastern Sudan, causing serious damage to the pipeline.
The Sudanese minister of energy and mining said the explosion took place in Sinkat city and targeted the pipeline which transports raw petroleum to Bashayer city on the Red Sea. He said the pipeline was seriously damaged, and the damage caused a temporary stop in petroleum flow.
Despite that, no front declared its responsibility for the accident, yet leaflets signed by a group named the El-Baga Council were found at the site of the incident. This group is one of the Sudanese opposition groups that includes four tribes demanding the self-rule in eastern Sudan.
