Israel welcomes US role in the peace process

Israeli negotiator Oded Eran said that any role played by US diplomacy in the peace process will be acceptable, whatever it is.

Meanwhile top Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said he seas a specific US role in this stage of the negotiations, adding that the US role must concern making Israel carry out UN resolutions, especially resolutions 242 and 338 which call for Israeli withdrawal from the lands it has occupied since 1967.

Sources close to the negotiators said the volume and space of the land that will be delivered to the Palestinians from the third stage of Israeli redeployment in the West Bank has not yet been agreed upon.
