Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak received Palestinian President Yasser Arafat and members of the accompanying delegation on Sunday in Cairo.

During the meeting the two sides discussed developments on the Palestinian - Israeli track and the future prospects for the peace process in the region.

Arafat said he put before Mubarak in their meeting yesterday in Cairo the details of the peace process on the Palestinian track and the obstacles confronting a positive move due to the Israeli stance.

Arafat said he asked Mubarak to urge Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak during their meeting today to fulfill the commitments he signed in Sharm El-Sheikh.

Arafat said that the number of settlements built in Barak's time in office, which does not exceed nine months, is much greater than the number built during the term of his predecessor, Benjamin Netanyahu.
