Jordanian opposition to Israel's participation in Inter-Parliamentary Union

Originally published

Arab media sources in Jordan stated that the Jordanian opposition is exerting intensive efforts to obstruct the convening of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Amman on April 30 if the Jordanian parliament persists in inviting an Israeli Knesset delegation to take part in its works.

In this regard, the Jordanian opposition parties, parliamentarians and vocational trade unions are pressuring to force the parliament in Jordan not to invite Israel and called on the parliament members in Jordan to boycott the conference if an Israel delegation takes part in it.

In a statement released for this purpose, the Jordanian opposition stressed that the Jordanian- Israeli peace agreement is obligatory for the government of Jordan, but not the parliament, which represents the people of Jordan.

The statement stressed the importance of boycotting Israel, which still occupies the Palestinian, Syrian and Lebanese territories and oppress their Arab people.
