Morocco denounces Israel's settlement and Judaization policy

Originally published

Morocco denounced before the human rights commission Israel's settlement and Judaization policy in the holy city of Al Quds (Jerusalem) and the Jewish settlements in the occupied territories.

Addressing the 56th session of the human rights commission which was examining the question of human rights violations in the occupied Arab territories including Palestine, a member of Morocco's permanent mission in Geneva, Mohamed Majdi, recalled Morocco's satisfaction over the different accords reached between Israel and Palestine, including the Sharm El-Sheikh accord signed in September 1999.

He, however, denounced Israel's violation of the Oslo accords by pursuing its policy of occupation and Judaization of the holy city, confiscating lands, constructing more settlements and demolishing Palestinian houses with the aim of changing the city's characteristics.

The Moroccan diplomat, who expressed Morocco's concern over the non-implementation of the accords passed by Israel, called on the international community and the concerned parties to work for the implementation of the agreements without reservation.

He added that Morocco is hopeful that the present Israeli government would adopt a new approach in its relations with the Palestinian side in order to guarantee the success of talks on final status, to restore confidence and to ensure security and stability in the region.
