Morocco to introduce traffic education in school curricula

Originally published

The Moroccan Education Ministry intends to introduce traffic education in school curricula.

The move is part of the education department's endeavours to raise awareness among children as to the importance of the principles and laws governing public life, said Moroccan National Education Minister Ismail Alaoui, who was attending a meeting on "School and Citizenship Education."

Alaoui, who underlined the need for the children to grasp the real meaning of citizenship, said the nation's progress largely depends on the respect by children of these principles and laws.

During the meeting, "passport of young citizen" was delivered to some children. The passport, which will be generalized to other education establishments in different regions of Morocco, is a simplified reference document which provides to the child education on citizenship based on Islamic precepts, constitution and the laws governing public life.

The document will also allow the child to develop principles of loyalty, honesty, solidarity and environment protection.
