Libya hosts international meeting on fertilizers industry
An international conference on the fertilizer industry will be held in Libya this March 27-30 with the participation of delegates from 32 regional and international organizations and 23 countries.
According to the Libyan center for agriculture research and production of selected fertilizers, the conference entitled "Breaking the Monopoly over Fertilizers Industry" will examine technology transfer and exchange and development of distribution networks.
According to the center, only an international policy enabling developing countries to improve and increase production to reach food self-sufficiency will help attain the goal.
In addition to negative effects entailed by the monopoly over the production of selected fertilizers in developing countries and the importance of genetic banks in the storage of fertilizers, the forum will also discuss interstate cooperation and try to develop a world strategy through a long-term program to ease the movement of fertilizers.
