The Arab Summit will ensure Arab safety

Egypt calls for an Israeli withdrawal from all occupied Arab territories, said Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa in an interview with Future TV late Sunday.

"The best Israeli withdrawal is the one to be carried out as part of a peaceful settlement with Lebanon and Syrian," said Moussa.

" But if Israel wants to pull out of Lebanon then this is welcome," he added. Security of northern Israeli can be easily maintained by the April Memorandum Understanding, the UN, the US and France.

Moussa stressed that Israel should withdraw its forces to the internationally recognized Lebanese borders and to pre-1967 Syrian borders.

"The upcoming meeting of the Arab Foreign Ministers to be held in Beirut is a message of support to Lebanon," said Moussa.

Arab Foreign Ministers will meet in Beirut on March 11, with the stalled Middle East peacemaking and the situation in Lebanon at the top of the agenda.

"The meeting should never be considered as a cover for a unilateral Israeli withdrawal from south Lebanon," stressed Moussa.

He added that all Arab ministers will be working for a joint political action for the good of Lebanon. He added that an expert team is working on repairing the damaged power stations in Lebanon.

Moussa said that the US is the major sponsor of the Mid East peace process and that requires it to adopt clear-cut stances. He voiced his belief that it is possible to conclude peace with the Syrians, Lebanese and Palestinians.

The US mediatory role should be fair to reach a balanced peace urged Moussa.

Moussa lashed out at Israeli policies, describing them as obstructing peace on the Palestinian track. He voiced skepticism over concluding peace in 2000.

Moussa said that the Egyptians are affected by settlement activities, the deadlocked Palestinian and Syrian tracks and the bombing of Lebanon.

He cited Arab response to hold a pan-Arab summit. The Arabs will eventually succeed in convening the Summit.

"The Arab Summit will ensure Arab safety," he told the TV.
