Italian senate speaker in Morocco

Originally published

Italian Senate Speaker Nicola Mancino started Saturday a three-day visit to Morocco.

Mancino is scheduled to confer with several Cabinet members, including Prime Minister Abderrahmane Youssoufi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Mohamed Benaissa, the speakers of the two chambers of the parliament and heads of parliamentary committees.

The Italian official told reporters that relations between Morocco and Italy are in a "very positive phase" and that he would examine with his Moroccan interlocutors ways of enhancing bilateral relations in line with the Barcelona Euro-Mediterranean declaration.

Mancino, who arrived in Rabat Sunday after he spent one day in Marrakesh, said his trip to Morocco is part of Italy's policy to consolidate cooperation between the two banks of the Mediterranean.
