Kidnapped Polish ambassador released in Yemen
The Polish ambassador to Yemen, Cristoph Sobrovich, returned to Sanaa on Sunday after he was held by an armed tribe for four days in a mountainous area.
AFP said that the ambassador was released after the end of the "warning period" set by the Yemeni authorities for the kidnappers after it sent army units equipped with mortars to the area where he was held.
The Polish embassy's advisor in Yemen told AFP that the ambassador was released on Saturday midnight and that he is in good health, and he is now taking a rest, but he gave no details on the conditions behind the release of the ambassador.
An official in the Yemeni police said that chieftain of Yemeni tribes who mediated between the police and the kidnappers escorted the diplomat until he arrived in Sanaa.
