Morocco for earnest Arab summits, foreign minister
Morocco supports the holding of earnest Arab summits that would debate accurate agendas, said Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Mohamed Benaissa.
Benaissa--who is visiting Cairo to take part in the Moroccan-Egyptian coordination and follow-up committee convening its first meeting in Cairo Thursday--told reporters after a meeting this morning with President Hosni Mubarak that Morocco has always militated for the unity of Arab ranks and has never spared any effort to uphold the Arab world's supreme interests.
For Morocco, he added, "Any Arab summit must have an accurate agenda and address serious issues, so that it reaches practical decisions that can be actually materialized."
Several Arab states have been calling lately for the holding of an Arab summit to examine the situation currently prevailing in the Arab world.
The latest Arab summit was held in Cairo in June 1996 with the participation of all Arab states, except Iraq.
