Morocco among monitors of Feb. 29 Y2K bug

Originally published

Morocco was chosen among 11 countries that will monitor the millennium bug problem that may happen on February 29, 2000.

Morocco will seat in a special committee also mustering Britain, Bulgaria, Chile, Gambia, Iceland, Japan, Mexico, Holland, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.

The committee will watch any possible glitch during the transition of February 28 and 29, and February 29 and March 1.

February 29 falls once in every four years, triggering general concern that agencies and organizations may face the millennium glitch, similar to that being concerned during the transition between 1999 and the year 2000, as old computers may cause errors, or not be able to read data of the special day.
